Whining about the job that John Campion did last night is getting to be just boilerplate for you.

Can you even watch a game without getting your knickers in a twist over the number of penalty calls? Did you really even watch the game? Or do you look at the box score and pass judgement based on the penalty count?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12302090.post-89553745088367233902007-03-17T17:01:00.000-05:002007-03-17T17:01:00.000-05:00(1) i don't think you can say one league is superi...(1) i don't think you can say one league is superior to another, merely because that league boasts the national champion -- that's a pretty shallow argument;

(2) it's equally shallow to point to one player's success or failure (i.e. curry) and try and make a broad-sweeping generalization about a league. is gopefort's domination of the WCHA this year (compared to his pedestrian performance in hockey east) indicative of anything? certainly not. there's many more variables at play -- you've got to roll up your sleeves and make a better argument than that;

(3) moreover, i don't think you can legitimately call hockey east a "JV league" compared to the WCHA. i don't think there's much question that top to bottom, this year hockey east is a deeper, stronger and more balanced league than the WCHA. nevertheless, i also think that this year, much of that is due to the fact that in a summer of record early departures of underclassmen, the vast majority of those leaving early came from the WCHA -- thereby diluting the league's strength;

(4) this balance of power between the east and west, ebbs and flows. in the most recent years, i think the west has produced finer talent overall, but go back a few years and hockey east was eating the WCHA's lunch. things have a way of evening out over time. bottom line -- both leagues are of very high quality.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12302090.post-12103488933675485462007-03-17T16:52:00.000-05:002007-03-17T16:52:00.000-05:00Thanks for getting the Gopher score wrong.
