Why the Big Ten network didn't show any of the Michigan State games is a joke. Good thing Michigan got both of their games on live each night. So, there won't really be a chance to test their mettle against the rest of the country anymore.

That said, two games vs. Minnesota, two games vs. BU, and games vs Wisconsin and BC would seem to be a pretty respectable non-conference slate, even if you could argue all of these teams are having somewhat down years.Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04775354208864451510noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12302090.post-13967733414315165762007-11-26T13:09:00.000-06:002007-11-26T13:09:00.000-06:00RWD--Yes, but you copied that title from a post I ...RWD--

Yes, but you copied that title from a post I wrote last Thanksgiving: http://westerncollegehockey.blogspot.com/2006/11/showcase-showdown.html

I'm really not that creative.

Anonymous-Since I was at one set of games, I couldn't really tell you anything from the other set of games that you couldn't find in a box score.Chrishttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13427994425310961446noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12302090.post-15278776095371314042007-11-26T12:25:00.000-06:002007-11-26T12:25:00.000-06:00That top line is having an impressive year. But like you said, if they falter, many of the same problems that currently plague Minnesota may be visited on talented but young Michigan team.

Does Michigan play either CC or Denver because they seem to be the class of the WCHA in the first half?

MSU struggled to ties against two mid-level WCHA opponents. They certainly seem to be over-rated at number six in the polls. MSU tied twice at home against teams they were favored to beat, and still doesn't have a meaningful win this season (0-3-2) to make people believe that the team that finished 4th in the CCHA and sneaked into the NCAA tournament with a roster lacking a single 1st team, 2nd team or honorable mention All Conference player was anything more than a fluke champion who got hot during the right 4 game stretch.

There you go. We competed in that one thanks to tenacity and checking and surprising freshman play. I think that core is still there, but Porter and Kolarik have found their stride. If this top line can replicate the Hensick-Porter-Rohlfs dominance (a tall task, no doubt), there'll be defense and goaltending to go along with it this time.

...I hope.colinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08174892535497307347noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12302090.post-52567262419530263062007-11-26T00:14:00.000-06:002007-11-26T00:14:00.000-06:00Copycat!
